Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) is a powerhouse in winemaking—2,600 team members across vineyards, packaging plants, offices in Australia, the Americas, Europe, and sales in over 70 countries. With COVID‑19 hitting early in 2020, their trusted but outdated communication methods—email chains and top-down cascades—weren’t cutting it anymore .

Rethinking Connection for a Distributed Workforce

When Melissa O’Neill started as Global Director of Corporate Affairs in January 2020, she saw two big issues: the communications function needed maturity, and there was heavy reliance on email—particularly problematic for frontline vineyard and production teams without corporate email access .

COVID‑19 lockdowns in China and the impending CEO transition further underlined the need for a faster, two‑way communication solution .

One Platform for Everyone—Built With and By the Business

TWE needed a mobile‑friendly and inclusive tool that could:

  • Reach frontline teams in vineyards and factories
  • Break down regional silos
  • Increase leadership visibility
  • Engage digitally-savvy millennials and Gen Z

After exploring options and building a cross-functional team, TWE chose a single, global platform supported by Enablo and Workplace—even amid concerns about safety, security, change management, and information governance .

Launch Day: 10th Birthday, One Global Launch

With a 'big bang' rollout across all regions, TWE launched the platform during its 10th-anniversary celebrations—a natural moment to drive excitement and mass adoption .

The launch featured fun, inclusive community groups like #PetsAtTWE, helping to create an immediate emotional connection .

From Launch to Momentum in Days

The uptake was impressive:

  • 52% of the global workforce claimed accounts within 72 hours
  • ~75% company-wide adoption soon after, including:
    • 97% in EMEA
    • 91% in Asia
    • 98% in corporate HQ

Leadership backed a “platform-first” communications policy and committed to retiring duplicate channels. This drove both visibility and accountability—reducing email noise and fostering a single, trusted space .

Real-Time Leadership, Real-Time Relationships

Executive visibility soared. Leaders used the platform to post videos, gather feedback, and participate in real conversations—not just broadcast announcements .

Crucially, frontline teams gained a voice, with participatory discussions and feedback loops that showed decision-makers what was working and what wasn’t .

Measuring Connection, Driving Culture

TWE didn’t just monitor adoption—they tracked engagement, leadership presence, and insight flow. This data informed stronger collaboration and a more innovative, connected culture across all regions .

A Global Community Toasting Together

TWE transformed from fragmented, top-down communication into a unified, cross-border community. From vineyards to boardrooms, from Asia to EMEA, people are now connected, heard, and inspired—one platform, one voice.
