With the recent announcement of Workplace by Facebook having over 150 companies with more than 10,000 active users, I began thinking…“How does Workplace by Facebook compare to Microsoft Teams?”.
A quick Google search led me to Microsoft announcing late last year Teams had reached just 54 companies with more than 10,000 active users.
“Why does Workplace have almost three times the number of large enterprise customers?”
In just over two years, Workplace has satisfied some of the largest customers in the world, leveraging its collaboration and workplace management capabilities. These companies are building connected, meaningful communities with a collaboration tool that’s scalable, intuitive and familiar.
It has been announced that six of the worlds largest by employee count, including AstraZeneca, DXC.technology, GSK, Telefonica, Vodafone, and Walmart are using Workplace
I spent close to two years of my career, immediately prior to starting Enablo, working for Microsoft. Whilst I wasn’t directly involved in the productivity team, I was a heavy user of the collaboration tools at Microsoft.
My biggest challenge was knowing what tool to use, and when. My style of working is very collaborative and I used Yammer frequently. With only a small portion of the overall company actively using Yammer (none of which were my team members) I had to constantly double-post, utilizing the collaboration tool and email.
I was one of the very first users of Teams at Microsoft. The potential for Teams excited me, but I very quickly found that the conversational interface made it difficult to stay on top of the constant stream of chat as I made client visits and moved between meetings. Not long after, it just became a tool that I used for 1:1 messaging and by that point I found my main communications reverting back to email.
While working at Microsoft from 2016 to 2017, Facebook introduced Facebook for Work (now Workplace by Facebook). This was the ‘holy grail’ in my eyes, not because over 2 billion people around the world are actively engaged on Facebook, but due to the fact it proactively supports organizations to effectively communicate and collaborate.
My clients would ask...
“Why couldn’t this platform be like Facebook… but for work?”.
It is now two years into my journey with Workplace and I have:
I can see why Workplace has 3 times the number of customers with more than 10,000 active users onboard, than Microsoft Teams.
At Enablo, we are constantly exploring ways to apply modern digital solutions to drive essential breakthroughs in organisational culture and business value. We believe that the future of work requires networking, mobility, and collaboration. This is why we have partnered with Workplace by Facebook.
